Petzl GriGri new edition of 2019 is the most famous insurer with assisted braking system.

This new version has a wider range of ropes, with diameters ranging from 8.5 mm to 11 mm (optimized for strings from 8.9 mm to 10.5 mm) so that it can be used with all the individual strings currently on the market.

Other improvements are to have a more fluid drop and, thanks to the different material, it will be less worn in the inner part of the mobile flange and there is also an element that prevents the rope from leaving the seat.

It is a device used by both the most experienced climbers but also for those who have recently approached climbing. Externally he has two figures engraved which explain and remember how to insert the rope inside.

To use it is very simple, the insurer will always have to keep the rope on the braking side with his right hand and, in the event of a fall, the string enters tension and the GriGri cam rotates towards the other, choking the rope against the external wall of the insurer. Doing so will stop the slippage of the rope and consequently also the fall.

To unlock the rope following a fall or to begin a descent, all you have to do is operate the ergonomic handle made of reinforced nylon.
