The Valtellina is crossed by the river Adda which runs through it in all its length, dividing two very different mountain groups: the western Rhaetian Alps and the Orobie Alps. In this area there is an incredible orographic richness that will allow you to meet different types of rock just a few kilometers away: granite from Val Masino, limestone from the Upper Valley, gneiss and schist from the Lower and Middle Valley, serpentine from Val Malenco , verrucano of Val Gerola.
